Ensemble of our children
Khelaghar is a residential institution and training center that caters to children from marginalized communities in and around West Bengal. Located in Badu, Madhyamgram, in the fringes of the metropolitan city of Kolkata, the institution offers an idyllic environment for children to discover and nurture their potentialities. Based on Tagore’s idea of Ashram learning, the environment of Khelaghar gives its residents the scope to explore and connect with nature through its various curricular and co-curricular activities. Space spans over 27 Bighas (9 Acres) and has been designed in such a way as to conform to an Ashram type living, with an expansive atmosphere for learning without boundaries, learning that goes beyond reading, writing, and mathematics.
Khelaghar is registered under the Indian Trust Act XXVI and the type of NGO is Charitable Trust (Non-Government. The city and state of registration are Kolkata and West Bengal. The date of registration is 29/01/1977. We are also registered under section 12A of the Income Tax Act, 1961 bearing Registration No.— 1141-T/WB VII of 1977-78 dated 31/08/1977. Also Registered under section 80G(5)(vi) of the Income Tax Act 1961 bearing Registration No.— DIT(E)/823 8E/65/77-78 dated 08/08/2006. We are also registered with Foreign Contribution Regulation Act and the number is 147120121.
